Education: Secondary (high) school graduation certificate. Work setting: Construction. Various locations. Renovation. Tasks: Prepare estimates of labour and/or material costs. Read blueprints, drawings and sketches to determine work requirements. Measure, cut, shape, assemble and join materials made of wood, wood substitutes, lightweight steel and other materials. Build foundations, install floor beams, lay subflooring and erect walls and roof systems. Fit and install windows, doors, stairs, mouldings and hardware. Supervise other workers. Estimate costs and materials. Utilize hand and power tools. Supervision: 1 to 2 people. Parts specialization: Carpentry/woodworking machinery. Security and safety: Reference required. Work conditions and physical capabilities: Bending, crouching, kneeling. Large workload. Physically demanding. Personal suitability: Client focus. Reliability. Team player.
