Operating at the intersection of scientific computing, artificial intelligence, and advanced engineering, Our Client is building a team of exceptional technical experts to help shape the future of hardware innovation.</p> <ul><li><strong>Location:</strong> Toronto, Canada (Hybrid) </li><li><strong>Employment Type:</strong> Full-Time</li><li><strong>Level:</strong> Mid-Senior Level</li><li><strong>Compensation:</strong> $150,000 ? $250,000 + Equity</li></ul> <h3><strong>The Opportunity</strong></h3> <p>Our Client is seeking a Field Applications Engineer with deep expertise in Integrated Photonics to help enterprise customers solve complex engineering challenges through AI-assisted design and workflow automation.</p> <p>This is not a traditional pre-sales role.</p> <p>You will operate at the intersection of photonic engineering, scientific AI, EDA tooling, and customer deployment. Working directly with PIC designers, photonic foundries, and EDA vendors, you will transform real-world engineering bottlenecks into deployable AI-assisted workflows that improve design quality, manufacturability, and development speed.</p> <p>This position offers a exciting opportunity to become a technical leader in the emerging field of AI-assisted photonic engineering.</p> <h3><strong>Key Responsibilities</strong></h3> <ul><li>Design and deploy AI-assisted workflows for photonic design, verification, simulation, and yield optimization</li><li>Translate complex engineering processes into structured, physics-grounded workflows</li><li>Identify bottlenecks across photonic development lifecycles and develop scalable solutions</li><li>Collaborate directly with PIC designers, foundries, and EDA vendors</li><li>Integrate solutions into existing EDA environments, simulation platforms, and PDK ecosystems</li><li>Develop workflows supporting variability analysis, compact modeling, layout-aware optimization, and measurement interpretation</li><li>Support customers throughout deployment and adoption processes</li><li>Provide technical leadership and trusted guidance to engineering stakeholders</li><li>Feed customer insights back into product development and platform capabilities</li><li>Contribute to workflow architecture, deployment best practices, and future platform direction</li></ul> <h3><strong>Requirements</strong></h3> <ul><li>MSc or PhD in Integrated Photonics, Electrical Engineering, Telecommunications Engineering, Applied Physics, or a related discipline</li><li>5+ years of hands-on experience in integrated photonic product development</li><li>Proven experience bringing photonic technologies from development through deployment or commercialization</li><li>Strong expertise with photonic simulation and EDA environments such as; COMSOL, Ansys, RSoft, Cadence Virtuoso, Synopsys OptoCompiler, Luceda IPKISS, Similar photonic design platforms</li><li>Experience designing advanced photonic components including; High-speed modulators, Photodiodes, Optical interconnects, Silicon photonics devices</li><li>Experience working directly with photonic foundries and EDA vendors</li><li>Knowledge of multi-objective optimization and co-design methodologies</li><li>Excellent communication skills with both technical and business stakeholders</li></ul> <h3><strong>Preferred Qualifications</strong></h3> <ul><li>Experience using modern AI technologies including; LLMs, APIs, Agentic systems, Workflow orchestration fr- Location Toronto, ON
